Since I keep seeing it crop up in discussions, I felt the urge to play Pokemon again. But like I don’t care about the newfangled versions, so I went with old school. I do have Pokemon Red’s cartridge, and can play it anytime, so I decided to go slightly different.
I wanted to know what’s up with Pokemon Yellow. I remember it coming out after Red/Blue.
This is what’s up. You get a pikachu following you everywhere. You can talk to it to see how it feels.
Gah! Look at it’s poring-like smile!
So happy and mindless.
But well, I actually did use a Pikachu when I played Red, since it’s the earliest lightning-element that you can get.
Another thing I noticed. God Pidgey, you’re hella ugly here.
Compare to Pokemon Blue. Much better! (No, I don’t know why the background is pink, either.)
I tried to catch it.
Yeah, maybe starting with a Pikachu isn’t the best idea …

Brock keeps beating my butt because he’s the rock gym & pikachu can’t even attack rocks. Must level the Pidgey that I finally did catch.
